![]() ![]() Haven't played this Enhanced Edition yet, but I know that in the original, the key bindings could not be changed, and therefore any information in-game about which keys did what was presumably "locked in" in the game code, and not referencing some external config file which could be altered. But why didn't they update the in-game key bindings screen? Having a separate PDF is not helpful while I'm playing the game. I just found a PDF file in the game directory called "SS1 Enhanced Controls.pdf" which explains the controls (including E for toggle mouselook). In fact, the key bindings screen (Alt+?) lists 'E' as "Lean right", and a whole bunch of other controls are listed incorrectly as well. And while the visuals understandably haven't aged well, understanding where games like BioShock and Deus Ex started is an important historical adventure worth your time.Mgiuca: Aha! Thanks. ![]() You can tune into that stream here at 9 a.m. ![]() ![]() Night Dive founder and CEO Stephen Kick will sit down with former Looking Glass Studios creative director Paul Neurath to discuss System Shock's place in gaming history. Update: If you're interested in learning more about System Shock and Night Dive's work bringing the classic back, there's a Twitch stream on September 23. It’s available for $10 (currently discounted to $8) on GoG. For nostalgia junkies, the Enhanced Edition also includes the original version. System Shock: Enhanced Edition has been updated by Night Dive Studios for high definition resolutions (up to 1024x768), includes mouse look support (not featured in the original), and fixes bugs from the original release. Its own sequel, the Deus Ex series, and later the BioShock franchise expanded and evolved this concept. Originally released in 1994, System Shock laid the groundwork for choice in video games. That changes today, as the enhanced edition of Irrational Games’ and Looking Glass Studios' groundbreaking title lands on GoG today. While System Shock 2 has been available for contemporary PC and Mac hardware for a number of years, its predecessor hadn’t been given the spit and polish treatment. ![]()
